Nicol & Brandon – October 8, 2011

“My husband and I met at Ohio University, so we incorporated OU into our wedding with a few things. First, for our table numbers, we went down to OU and took pictures of places that were memorable to us while holding a chalkboard with each table number written on it. Then underneath the picture was a brief paragraph of why the picture was significant to us.”

“On the handle of my bouquet of flowers was a piece of my late grandmother’s wedding dress, which my mother also wore on her wedding day. The garter I wore was also from both of their weddings.”

“We brought out green LED necklaces later in the evening to light up the dance floor. Also, for cocktail hour we had our “special OU” drink, which was actually one of our favorite signature drinks at one of our favorite bars down there. Our first dance was to a song our Economics teacher would blast every morning at 9 a.m. before he started his lecture. That  was the class where we first met.”

Her advice: “Don’t get too caught up in all the glitz and glam of everything and feel like you need to outdo everyone else and end up breaking the bank. Plan a budget, stick with it, and remember that as long as you surround yourself with the family and friends you love, nothing else matters besides marrying your best friend.”
